Customer Reviews
So far so good

Even though the explanations are not always clear this app still has a wealth of information about food that will help you make informed decisions.

Helps me watch what i eat before i buy it

Great App!

Love this app. Easy to use, extensive food database and everything I need to lose weight!

I can not log in.. I does not say wrong password it just does nothing. It is a shame. I liked the app.

How much protein did I eat?

This app is just pretty unorganized looking to begin with. But then I added all my food intake for the day only to find it doesn’t break down anything besides calories unless you upgraded to premium. Going back to myfitnesspal.

Add more categories

I like this app, I would love an option for vegan or a whole food plant based diet. Then I’d give you 5 stars.

This app is difficult and confusing. I have edited my profile multiple times and it keeps changing what I entered. The only foods that work well are if they have a barcode. So if you are making food from scratch it is cumbersome. Appears to be designed for those who eat all processed foods.

Annoyed no that it keeps prompting me to rate the app

The developer responded to my 1 star review which made me feel kind of like a jerk for leaving a negative review in anger over the prompting for a review, which is apparently not their fault. The prompting for a review was still annoying but I appreciate the response so I’ll change it to 5 stars. As soon as I started using it, it kept prompting me to rate the app so I’m giving it a 1 star in the hopes that the prompting will go away. I have no idea if the app is any good since I haven’t really started using it yet. Furthermore I would suggest that most of the ratings it does have are from similar circumstances where people just rated it to get the prompts to go away and don’t don’t really have any idea if the app was good or not. So annoying. Hopefully it really is a good app and eventually I’ll be able to give it a better rating, but I doubt I would be motivate to go back and write another review. You can tell how annoying the prompts were since I’m typing so much.

The best health app I’ve used! Very helpful.

Upgraded version requires a login

The upgraded version requires me to log in. When I attempt that, nothing happens. Where is the old working app? I just want to scan some food labels.

Too much

Cost too much money for premium but other than that it’s pretty good

Great app! I did have it synced with my iWatch but unfortunately, I’m assuming that it’s not compatible anymore because I don’t see it on my iWatch. Fix this syncing problem!

Great experience

I have been using Fooducate for about four years. I have changed all around with the way that I see and eat food. Fooducate has helped me expand my view of what I used to think was good for me, and with results that I have gotten from my life change, I don’t use any other app. Thanks!

No way to search for foods You have to pick category then hope restaurant is in that category... joke Deleting app

Not all is true but you get a hint

flax oil a c- inaccurate

Organic flax oil with heiligen is not a C minus if this is wrong I wonder what else is wrong.

LEARN what’s good for you

A co-worker shared the app. App allows me to see the grade on what I’m eating and what foods I should stay away from. Love It

Stop asking me every 3 minutes to rate. I paid for the premium I don’t need a reminder to rate

Stop asking me every 3 minutes to rate. I paid for the premium I don’t need a reminder to rate

Incorrect grading

Literally everything I search and see is a “B” grade. Please update this app, it used to be so much better!

food should not be graded!

I understand that this app is great for weight loss. But there is simply no such thing as a “bad” food! I have worked with people with eating disorders, and almost all of them said they used this app. I do understand that added sugars, and processed is not the greatest for our bodies. But everything is really not that bad if it’s eaten in moderation. In conclusion, as a dietitian, I do not appreciate an app that grades food, and idolizes which foods are grades.

Great app

Extremely educational!

Annoyed by this app

Every time a push a button it sends me to a premium app upgrade. So basically i can not keep track of my stuff without buying the upgrade. Boo

Waste of money

It would be great if this app would sync with Fitbit!

The Food Database is Lacking

The largest hinderance to the use of the app is that the food database, even when scanning is a fraction of other apps like My Fitness Pal. For instance I tried to scan eggs from a National grocery chain and it want me to upload photos and details. I tried to log food bought from whole foods and it does not exist in the Fooducate app. It literally takes me 5 minutes to log a meal and maybe 10 to log a recipe in my fitness pal and it takes 15 to log a meal in fooducate and a solid half hour for a new recipe. I tried to add herb baked chicken and fresh sage wasn’t a pre-existing option and the chicken thighs I was looking for was not included but these processed frozen one were, that makes no sense. They really need to invest in their food database. Without it, it makes the app kind of worthless.

Possibly the best app on my iPhone

Possibly the best app on my iPhone. I get more info here than I get from my doctor. It’s no longer her schooling me when I’m at my appointments. It’s more of an exchange of information. 🤔

Ridiculous pricing

I was tracking my weight using your app, and I got a new phone. Now I can’t track my weight without paying some ridiculous price to upgrade it to a pro version! This is very, very disappointing.

Saved my life!!!!

I love this app! I just realized a lot of foods I’ve been eating all this time contained dangerous trans fats.

Inaccurate Scans

While I think this app has a lot of potential, one thing we noticed that we think is very misleading is that the scans are not right. We have two exactly the same phones. Loaded the app on both. Paid the subscription on one and not the other. Scanned the same item with both phones and got two different scores. On the paid subscription, we got a D as a score. On the unpaid we got a C+. We’re not being picky, but something is not right here.

Best app

Love the app very informative!

Not everyone needs to loose weight

Some people have trouble keeping weight on and need to maintain a high amount of calories. Would have been a good app to track that if it would have allowed me to set a higher weight goal. Being healthy for some people isn’t just about losing weight.

Mind blown 🤯

This is a very impressive application. There is a very large database, and a great community to go along with it! The nutritional facts are extremely helpful. Thumbs up from me! 👍🏼

So frustrating to use!!!

App has issues

Finding a lot of foods not scannable. Tried submitting the necessary information but won’t transmit. Need to fix the problem, otherwise it’s a pretty good app.

I wanted this to be free but not all your wishes come true.

Free version is useless for me.

I have to pay to get carb info and it is free in other apps

Love Fooducate!

This app has really helped me on my food journey. I used to think I was a pretty healthy eater, but Fooducate helped me see all the detrimental additives in the foods I was eating. I scan products when I’m shopping and replace poorly rated ones with healthier alternatives offered by the app. Over time this has significantly improved my family’s diet. I recommend Fooducate to everyone who wants to eat better and avoid harmful additives in their food.

Buyer Beware!

I paid more than $30 to try most of the functionality of this app and I am regretting it. The graphics are poor, finding a food to enter is so time consuming, this app has less than half of the options that pop up when you use My Fitness Pal. Maybe less than a quarter. Then, to add insult to injury, I have emailed support three times over seven days and have yet to get a single response. A total rip-off.

Is EVERYTHING extra???

You asked for a review less than 5 mins into me signing up and right now I’m not happy. Everything that is of use seems to involve paying extra. Maybe my impression will change after I have had more than 5 mins.

Food ratings

I love the food ratings, explanations, and alternative features. It would be great to have a history of the foods you looked up though on the food finder option.

need more info on whole foods

new user, but not finding a lot of info on whole foods - foods without a bar code.

A good platform to learn about food

Two small problems

1. I’m not good with watching my food intake and this powerful app isn’t making things easier. 2. The July newsletter contains soft porn which ain’t good at all. The woman sitting on the sand with the see-through covering wasn’t necessary or appreciated. Please ensure this doesn’t happen again. Thank you.

User Friendly

It seems user friendly, so far.

Problem in Measurements

The app does not support Metric system only imperial system

Not vegetarian friendly unless you upgrade

Pointless to make people pay for vegetarian recommendations.... can’t use this app

Free the gluten free!

This is a wonderful app but if you’re allergic to anything (which is not and individual’s choice) you are required to purchase an extension. I was diagnosed celiac 10 years ago when gluten free was basically unheard of. It wasn’t until a few years ago I was able to order a pizza that wouldn’t kill me and I didn’t have to make. There is so much to share in the celiac world. It’s unfair to force someone to buy a ticket to get help eating and losing weight with a food allergy. This should be a free feature. It’s a marketing game that I don’t wish to play.

This app is great!

I downloaded this app expecting it to be another cheap health app with ads every 30 seconds, but it's not at all! It's a great, simple way to keep track of what you eat, and the nutrients in it. I also really like that the app doesn't force you to buy the pro version to get anything worth it, and it doesn't ask you to upgrade all the time. I believe the features on both the free and paid version are fair. Overall, I highly recommend this app.

Many of the foods I eat are not in the database. Many of the foods that are in the database have the wrong nutrition information also. This has messed up my information, but now that I realize I double check the nutrition label and enter the nutrition information myself. When entering the information Vitamins A and C cannot be included in the nutrition information because there is no place for them. It would be helpful to include vitamins and minerals in the nutrition information. Apple HealthKit does not update when you delete something it remains in there. It would be nice to be able to see the carb count and other nutrition information per meal instead of and/or in addition to the total amount per day. A new day begins at 12:00 EST and ends at 11:59 p.m. EST, but the app does not adhere to this as it remains on the day before calling it today when it is well into the next day. The ability to print a report from “All Time”, 90 days, 1 month, 14 days, and 7 days would be helpful. For privacy the app should allow for a passcode on the iPhone app.

I feel like I can’t do anything without upgrading. I will not spend money on an app that may not work for me. If I knew this app would work I would have no problem but idk and I literally can’t do much of anything.
